Seller Believes Amazon Wants to Keep Control of Customer Data

Dear Ina,

We've been generally happy with the service and shipping discounts that have come with it. I honestly believe that this was developed in order for Amazon to control customer data plain and simple.

We previously used ShipWorks, and it maintained a database of all customer data emails, telephone number, addresses, etc. Using data like this only helps us drive customers back Direct and something Amazon definitely doesn't want.

Amazon already has access to all the customer’s data from the transaction.  The shipping details aren’t invisible either, be it ‘through’ them or otherwise.

No, they offer ‘services’ for one purpose only.  Can you gue$$ it?

Be careful about running afoul of the PII retention policies.

Rethinking “control”; meaning they’d rather 3P sellers not have it.  Well yeah, always did.
