Amazon will hold a second shopping event for Prime members this year, this one called Prime Big Deal Days to be held in October, the company announced on Tuesday.
Last year Amazon held a “Prime Early Access Sale” on October 11 – 12, but didn’t announce the event until September 26th. Nor does Amazon usually give this much advance notice of its annual Prime Day shopping event.
Amazon did not reveal the exact dates of the “Big Deal Days,” but said it would take place in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the US, and the UK. Countries new this year are Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Japan, and Singapore, while Turkey is off the list.
“We’ll share more details soon as we get closer to the event,” Amazon wrote in Tuesday’s announcement. “We can’t wait to give our Prime members access to exclusive early savings this season.”
The first day of last month’s Prime Day event held on July 11 was the single largest sales day in company history. “Over the course of the two-day shopping event, Prime members purchased more than 375 million items worldwide and saved more than $2.5 billion on millions of deals across the Amazon store, helping make it the biggest Prime Day event ever,” it announced, adding that it was also the biggest Prime Day event ever for independent sellers, “whose sales growth in Amazon’s store outpaced Amazon’s retail business.”
