Learning More about eBay Management Shuffle

eBay laid off 9% of its fulltime employees (1,000 positions) in January – including a number of mid-level management roles – and said it also planned to scale back the number of contractors (“alternative workforce”). Now we know it has been shuffling around some top executives in at least two markets, the US and Germany.

eBay promoted Vice President of Collectibles, Electronics and Home Dawn Block to General Manager of eBay US; Block joined eBay in 2021 from Target.

Adam Ireland, who has been with eBay for nearly 13 years, had been serving in that role – it’s not clear exactly how his duties have changed.

In Europe, eBay hired Saskia Meier-Andrae away from Wayfair, Mark Steier of Wortfilter.de reported. Dr. Meier-Andrae serves as General Manager of eBay Germany, replacing Oliver Klinck, who moved to a global role, “VP & GM, Europe and International Markets, Chairmen of the Board eBay Marketplaces GmbH,” according to his LinkedIn profile.

Dawn Block told sellers in a recent post on the eBay Seller Announcement board that her number one priority as head of US Marketplaces would be to support growth for the eBay community. “With vibrant sellers comes vibrant buyers and a vibrant community and platform. I look forward to partnering with you and most importantly, listening to you,” she said in part.

“I joined eBay in 2021 and have been responsible for driving exceptional shopping and selling experiences across Fashion, Collectibles, and Home and Garden in the U.S., U.K., and Germany,” she wrote.

“Over the years, I have witnessed the transformation of eBay. Some of the initiatives I have been super involved in are the Vault and our Authenticity Guarantee program. Both experiences are built around trust; trust for the buyer and seller; trust for the eBay community entirely. Trust is what I hope to earn from eBay sellers as we begin this new journey together.”

  1. Sounds like Fleecebay is actively engaging in shuffling the decks chairs around again on the sinking ship.

  2. Some sellers who unfortunately have to use eBay can probably do better jobs than these executive blockheads.

  3. Dawn Block , your words mean nothing. the cesspool hates sellers, sellers do not trust the cesspool.
