eBay UK Fall Seller Update Includes Advice on Brexit

eBay announced the Fall Seller Update 2019 on Wednesday, and in the UK, the company published advice for sellers on Brexit, which is the term for the UK’s planned withdrawal from the European Union.

“Get ready for Brexit – Make sure you’re prepared if there’s “no deal,”” eBay UK wrote in its Fall Update announcement. “No deal” refers to the possibility that the UK will leave the EU without a withdrawal agreement.

eBay linked to a page dedicated to the topic containing information and advice, writing, “If the UK leaves the EU on a ‘no deal’ basis, this will have various implications for businesses exporting and importing goods to and from the UK.”

For businesses that sell to the EU, there will be immediate changes, eBay said, and listed some recommendations for sellers on how to deal with them, including VAT (value added tax) related matters.

eBay included a suggestion that sellers consider eBay’s Global Shipping program. “With the Global Shipping Programme international postage is simple. You post your items to our UK Shipping Centre and duty payment, customs clearance, tracking and all the rest will be taken care of under the programme. You don’t have to pay anything extra – just the cost of posting to the UK Shipping Centre. Plus, your seller performance standards are protected.”

eBay continued, “These are uncertain times for all of us. We’ll be monitoring the situation over the coming weeks and will keep you updated on the latest advice from the Government on what you need to do to prepare for Brexit.”

You can find the full announcement on the eBay UK website.
