eBay will give US shoppers the ability to purchase items listed by Japanese sellers through an agreement with Rakuten’s Rakuma marketplace app. The companies will test the program by listing products on eBay.com primarily in the fashion category.

eBay and Rakuten will provide Rakuma Official Shop merchants with support in areas such as international shipping and multilingual customer support, providing a “trouble-free” experience for the Japanese sellers.

Rakuten Rakuma said it wants to expand customer channels for Rakuma Official Shops by promoting merchants’ international sales. “Going forward, Rakuten Rakuma will consider launching full-scale services with Rakuma Official Shops on eBay, based on the response to the trial,” according to Wednesday’s announcement.

As of today, only seven Rakuma Official Shop merchants offering fashion products are participating in the test, with plans to expand the number of sellers in the future. Rakuten published the news on its website.
