Amazon Warns Sellers Who Use Third-Party Apps

Amazon has previously said that over 75% of sellers use third-party apps. On Friday, it reminded them that they should make sure those apps are vetted and approved by Amazon.

Formerly known as Amazon Seller Central Partner Network, the Amazon Selling Partner Appstore offers thousands of tools vetted and approved by Amazon that can help sellers be more efficient and profitable.

In its Appstore FAQs, Amazon explains, “Apps are software solutions built to help you automate, scale, or accomplish critical business tasks, such as managing your inventory, streamlining accounting, optimizing pay-per-click advertising, and many more.”

It also notes: “Some apps are stand-alone and others integrate directly with Seller Central, but all apps have access to the same data offered by Marketplace Web Services and Selling Partner APIs.”

Amazon also explains in its FAQs that third-party apps set their own prices (pricing information is available on the specific app detail page).

In Friday’s announcement, Amazon said it ensures that apps in its Appstore comply with regulations, keep seller data safe, and comply with Amazon policies.

In July, Amazon took a big step by allowing a select number of third-party services to send notifications to sellers directly on Amazon Seller Central, helping sellers get important information from service providers faster. Developers interested in getting their Amazon apps included in the app store can visit Developer.AmazonServices.com.
