Sellers Delighted eBay Sale Tab Now Features Promotions

Sellers seemed delighted that eBay improved a feature called the Sale tab so that it displays all of their promotions designed to induce shoppers to make a sale. When eBay announced the Sale tab as part of the Fall 2023 Seller Update, it only displayed sellers’ coupons.

Sellers who provided feedback about the feature on September 27th urged eBay to expand the Sale tab to include not just coupons, but markdowns, order discounts, and shipping discounts as well. As one seller explained, “I’m not sure I understand why call the tab “sale” but restrict it to Coupons? If I’m running a Markdown Manager sale, won’t that confuse buyers, who see sale, click on the tab, see nothing, and conclude I’m not running a markdown manager sale. Wouldn’t it be better to name the tab “Coupons” and change it to “sale” after ebay has added the other types of sales?”

eBay responded to the feedback by saying it was “exploring ways to include other promotions, such as markdowns, to the sales tab in the future.”

It appears eBay has yet to announce the enhancements to the Sale tab. Sellers are discussing the change on the eBay discussion board, where one seller linked to the new feature showcasing their promotions – the Sale tab can be seen on their eBay Store homepage.

Marketplaces like eBay and Etsy have been focusing on adding tools to help sellers discount their items thanks to pressure from sites like Temu and Shein. In the eBay Winter 2024 Seller Update, eBay introduced changes to make it easier for sellers to run Markdown Sales and said it would begin providing sellers with “Sell it faster” recommendations.
