Marketing Your eBay Motors Listings Just Got More Expensive

eBay Motors

eBay MotorseBay is raising the cost of marketing automobile listings next month. The cost of listing an item is not changing, but the cost of using the optional Gallery Plus marketing feature is going up 150%.

Sellers can choose to add Gallery Plus to listings to make them more appealing in search results. Currently the cost is $2 on eBay Motors. On September 5, 2018, “Gallery Plus” will cost $5 for the following eBay Motors categories:

Cars & Trucks
Motorcycles
Boats
Powersports
Other Vehicles & Trailers

eBay tells sellers that “advanced listing upgrades can help your listings stand out and attract more buyers.” Not only do sellers have to compete with each other, but they must compete with advertisements as well.

See the full announcement on the eBay Seller News announcement board. (Note that fees for using Gallery Plus on eBay Motors Parts & Accessories is different than regular eBay Motors categories and is not changing).

  1. Once again, ebay displays both distain and ignorance of the automotive price shopper.
Price shoppers are looking…surprisingly…for just ONE thing…the LOWEST price compatible with condition.

They’re not attracted to bells and whistles, naked ladies, or promises of a ’64 Mustang in the afterlife.

They search by PRICE…as I imagine that 95% of ALL shoppers do regardless of their search.

Why does ebay ignore basic human nature?
