eBay Snipe Bidding Back in Business

A major provider of tools for marketplace shoppers had reported last month that eBay was blocking snipe bids, which are last-minute bids critical to auction-format listings.

This week, eSnipe said the problem with eBay has been resolved – good news for sellers who list in the auction format – but bidders may need to take action to ensure their bids can go through.

In a post on the eSnipe website on Monday, the company wrote, “eBay and eSnipe have worked together to fix this issue and eSnipe users should no longer be having problems verifying their eBay account.” Users had been receiving messages that forced password changes due to what it considered “unauthorized third party access.”

eSnipe explained users must go to eBay’s website from their own computer to log out and then log back in to each eBay account which had experienced problems. Then they must go back to eSnipe and update the eBay account information listed within their eSnipe account in order to trigger it to go through the verification process with eBay.

Users had discussed snipe bids and eBay’s auction policies last month when we reported the problem. When snipe bids don’t go through, it generally means lower prices and sell through rates for sellers.

You can read eSnipe’s full instructions on its website.
