Ruby Lane and Auctionata Collaborate on Live Online Auctions

Ruby Lane will collaborate with fine art and antiques auction site Auctionata to hold global online auctions, with the pilot event, “Antiques & Vintage Pieces,” taking place on December 6, 2013. Prospective bidders can access the auction from both the Ruby Lane website (via a subsite), as well as the Auctionata website’s existing auction portal.

“We’re creating a whole new entertainment and distribution channel with Ruby Lane,” said Alexander Zacke, CEO of Auctionata. “With our pioneering online auctions and Ruby Lane’s thriving online marketplace we will now offer bidders anywhere in the world quick, easy and secure access to the objects they desire,” said Alexander Zacke, CEO of Auctionata.

The “Antiques & Vintage Pieces” auction will be the first in a regular series of auctions held by both marketplaces, with both sellers and buyers coming together in an online, live-streaming setting. Presiding over the event will be Auctioneer Fabian Markus and art historian and appraiser Victor Wiener, who served as the executive director of the Appraisers Association of America for 21 years, and is an avid collector of antiques and collectibles himself.

Among the most notable Americana objects that will be sold at the auction include Tiffany & Co. Silver and Enamel Circus Figurines, an exquisite Mandolin-watch as a Pendant, and Tiffany Studios Favrile Glass and Bronze Table Lamp.

Also in the news for Auctionata is the christening of its London office on Nov. 7, with a Zurich office to follow on Nov. 22. The company also has the sale of a Van Gogh drawing from 1888 coming to its Fine Arts auction on November 29, “and the artwork will return to Berlin after more than 106 years,” said Auctionata’s Director of Corporate Communications Christiane Herzhauser.

Auctionata conducts weekly, global auctions with pieces ranging in value from hundreds to millions. The company recently broke an online auction world record selling Egon Schiele’s “Reclining Woman” live for $2.4 million (the previous chart-topper was one of Andy Warhol’s “Flowers” series, auctioned online for $1.3 million on artnet in July 2011).

Rubylane.com founder and CEO Tom Johnson said, “We’re excited to collaborate with Auctionata to offer our sellers and buyers another avenue into the online antique, vintage, and jewelry marketplace.”

More information about the December 6th auction can be found on the Auctionata website.
