eBay Warns Sellers to Check Their Dashboard

eBay issued an announcement on Thursday to warn sellers to check their dashboards to get a preview of new seller standards that are rolling out February 20, 2016, writing, “A preview of your performance is now available in your seller dashboard.”

When the new standards take effect, eBay will judge sellers on two key metrics: defect rate and on-time shipping. Feedback and Detailed Seller Ratings will no longer count toward a seller’s defect rate, though they will continue to be displayed to buyers on the feedback profile page.

eBay is also changing how it calculates defect rate and on-time shipping metrics – the latter is of concern to sellers who ship via USPS and don’t necessarily see their packages getting scanned in a timely manner.

The new performance preview now available to sellers shows their status under the new standards based on how they are currently performing. Sellers can also download transaction defect and late shipment reports for more performance details.

Sellers discussed what they were seeing in their previews on this eBay discussion board thread and on the EcommerceBytes Blog (see link below).

Interestingly eBay’s head of Seller Experience Jordan Sweetnam wrote, “This is a preview and we will continue to evolve the experience based in part on your feedback”; he encouraged sellers to post questions on the Fall Seller Update discussion board.

In addition, eBay will be hosting a live chat on its Facebook page on Friday (November 6) at 9 am PT (12 noon ET).
