Square announced it supports Apple Pay for Square Checkout and through its ecommerce API for developers. Square said it makes it easier for buyers and results in higher conversion rates for sellers, citing Apple statistics that show developers who implement Apple Pay double their conversion rates, reduce checkout times, and increase customer loyalty and purchase frequency.
A spokesperson told EcommerceBytes:
“Last year we introduced Build with Square, our online and offline payment platform alongside our reporting APIs. Since then, we’ve worked closely with developers and our sellers to identify how we can make it easier to start selling online while harnessing the power of our APIs and through our e-commerce partners.
“Most recently, we launched Square Checkout, a hosted checkout payment solution for Square developers who are looking for a one-stop integration for all their ecommerce needs, without hours of additional development time. We repeatedly heard from sellers and developers that both buyers and sellers recognize, trust, and love the Square brand; can Square bring that trust online?
“And now, we’re making it easier than ever for buyers to complete purchases online through web support for Apple Pay. This is available to all sellers and developers using Square Checkout and our ecommerce API today.”
