PayPal Simplifies International Logistics for Chinese Exporters

PayPal has entered into a strategic deal with Beijing Post, one of China’s largest postal providers, which serves customers in more than 204 cities in 143 countries worldwide and owns the largest international mail exchange office in China.

PayPal and Beijing Post have created PayPal Package, an international logistics solution: PayPal Package allows merchants to track order delivery online, which means it enables merchants to be covered by PayPal’s seller protection policy.

Merchants can benefit from an international delivery service for small parcels, which guarantees that these items will be boarding a plane for delivery on the day of order. “Current estimates show that transporting parcels from China to the US and Europe takes 10 – 20 days and with this new arrangement we will improve the overall shipping experience. Working with Beijing Post, our merchants in China will benefit from its mature import-export system and, ultimately, the speed of an express delivery service for the price of surface mail.”

eBay has been aggressively working to expand cross-border trade with a focus on Brazil, Russia, India and China, and PayPal offers a website in collaboration with other service providers called easy2export.com to provide assistance with export-oriented ecommerce.

PayPal pegged China’s freight import and exports at $2.3 trillion in 2012, up 32% and surpassing the U.S. for the first time.
