Would You Want Your Tax Refund Sent to PayPal

If you’re due to get a tax refund this year, would you prefer it be sent directly to your PayPal account? That’s an option for US taxpayers if you have a PayPal Cash Card.

Business owners can also now use their PayPal account to pay their small-business taxes through payUSAtax.com. Small-business owners can even pay over time with PayPal Credit, according to a company spokesperson.

In a corporate blog post, PayPal wrote that this year US taxpayers can use a PayPal account to do any of the following:

  • Pay any taxes owed to the IRS through payUSAtax.com.
  • Pay income taxes over time with PayPal Credit – enjoy 6 months promotional financing on tax payments of $99 or more when paying through payUSAtax.com. (Subject to credit approval. See terms.)
  • Receive tax refunds straight into a PayPal account – consumers who have the PayPal Cash Card can get their tax refund deposited straight into PayPal, then use it to shop online, transfer to a bank or access it with the PayPal Cash Card.
  • Pay small business taxes through payUSAtax.com, plus get tax tips from PayPal for planning and managing a business throughout the year.

Canadian customers can also pay their CRA taxes with PayPal through PaySimply.

Be sure to read the fine print for details and restrictions on any or all of these options – find the announcement on this page of the PayPal corporate blog. (Remember not to sign in to your PayPal account from third-party links such as these.)

  1. Really? Is ANYONE getting money back from the government this year? All I’ve heard (and experienced,) is people paying in or failing to get returns they normally receive.

This promo could be a lesson in too little too late for PayPal.
