eBay Surveys Sellers on Diversity

eBay

eBay logoeBay is surveying sellers on the topic of diversity. The marketplace explained the Seller Diversity Questionnaire “is intended to gather demographic information that will allow us to better understand our broad range of sellers, your inventory, and your diverse business needs.”

– By measuring the diversity of our seller community and your inventory, we can better meet the diversity of our buyer needs

– Collaborating more strategically with our community partners, e.g. chambers of commerce, universities, local municipalities or non-profits who are also working to support the growth of your businesses; and

– Understanding when to invite you to join us for diversity initiatives and projects throughout the year

eBay also announced it is rolling out a new Seller Diversity Advocate Program to help sellers promote their business and become an advocate in their community. They will also gain access to internal and external eBay events where sellers are frequently requested to participate.

Sellers should indicate their interest when completing the survey – eBay will announce the first “cohort” of Seller Diversity Advocates during the company’s upcoming eBay Open 2018 seller conference.

Two questions worth calling out (along with the responses from which sellers could select) are the following:

As a seller, what are some of the key challenges you are facing? (Select all that apply):
– Access to capital
– Automating my business
– Expanding internationally
– Handling returns
– Managing day-to-day operations
– Promoting my business
– Selling online
– Other (please specify)

Internally and externally, eBay recognizes a number of cultural moments and we would like to invite our sellers to participate (e.g. join seller panels, features on the eBay site, joining eBay for local events, etc.). Which of the following events would you like to be contacted for in the future? Note: This is not a comprehensive list, but some examples of current/future opportunities. (Select all that apply)
– Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
– Black History Month
– Diwali
– Hispanic Heritage Month
– International Women’s Day
– Jewish American Heritage Month
– LGBT Pride Month
– Lunar New Year
– Memorial Day
– Mother’s Day
– National Disability Employment Awareness Month
– Veteran’s Day
– None of the above

Feel free to let us know what you think of the survey and eBay’s new initiatives on diversity.

3 thoughts on “eBay Surveys Sellers on Diversity”

  1. First question: Check Other. Response: “eBay’s anti-small seller policies.”

  2. Another waste of time and money on a; sinking ship run by incompetents justifying their salaries with nonsense and babble.

  3. I never got the survey in my emails BUT I used the link that Ina has and left my answers. I told them they are doing a crappy job and that they are completely lost worrying about diversity. I told them that they need to fix the site and to worry about getting buyers instead of wasting money on foolishness.
