Sales Tax Compliance Firm TaxCloud Adds Bonanza Integration

Online marketplace Bonanza has partnered with TaxCloud so that its sellers can connect their stores to the fee-based online sales-tax compliance service. TaxCloud has made similar arrangements with Etsy and Shopify and is also available in the Amazon Marketplace Appstore.

“Bonanza sellers can now easily connect their booths (stores) to TaxCloud to easily manage their U.S. sales tax obligations,” according to this week’s announcement.

Sellers should keep in mind that there’s more to sales tax compliance than a simple marketplace integration. Sellers should start by evaluating which, if any, third-party sales-tax compliance they wish to use, keeping in mind the costs as well as features. (Pricing information is available on this page of TaxCloud.com.)

The benefit of integration for TaxCloud’s marketplace customers is explained in this section of the announcement: “TaxCloud provides a powerful sales tax compliance API, wrapped in an easy-to-use, self-service Cloud platform empowering retailers of any size to get started collecting sales tax in any state (or all states) in minutes. The TaxCloud API delivers real-time and batch process sales tax calculations for any address in the U.S., as well as automated registration, filing & remittance services, audit response and indemnification to its clients.”

TaxCloud’s Patrick Riley told EcommerceBytes, “We are available in the Amazon Marketplace appstore, the Etsy Integrations Toolbox within Shop Manager and have the integration complete with Shopify. Price to merchants is the same across all platforms.”

Riley addressed the issue of how sellers could learn more about the requirements for collecting sales tax. “Right on the https://taxcloud.com landing page we have a post-Wayfair guidance map if you scroll down towards the bottom. A merchant can click on the state to find the guidance for each state and a link the relevant state DOR (Department of Revenue) directive. As needed, we support prospective merchants through our support channel on these matters, but we do not provide tax advice.”

Bonanza Product Manager Reilly O’Connor said, “Given the recent changes to the sales tax landscape, Bonanza wanted to offer sellers an option for a full-service sales tax capability. Partnering with TaxCloud to meet this request of our sellers is the perfect solution.”

Riley said TaxCloud was in discussions with several other marketplaces and hopes to make additional announcements soon.
