Online merchants who use Weebly to host their online stores can now offer Android Pay as a payment method for mobile shoppers, the company announced this month.
The press release follows:
Weebly, the global website and eCommerce service empowering more than 45 million entrepreneurs worldwide, announced it will integrate Android Pay into the mobile checkout flow of Weebly online stores. It was part of a Future of Web Payments announcement made by Zach Koch, Google Product Manager at the annual Google I/O conference.
With a growing number of Android Pay customers using the technology for faster checkout and more than 40% of all Weebly online store transactions happening on mobile or tablet, Android customers will now experience an effortless mobile checkout flow across eligible Weebly eCommerce sites. The integration will help support digital small business owners with more up to date transactional technology than what most major online retailers currently provide their customers. In addition to making Android Pay available on the web, the Payment Request API eliminates checkout forms and provides a mobile optimized user experience that makes paying online easier than ever.
Research shows that 1 in 4 people abandon their carts because of a “too long and complicated checkout process” and mobile conversions are 66% lower on mobile than on desktop. With Weebly implementing Android Pay, a mobile shopper can seamlessly purchase a product in less than 5 seconds.
“Online shoppers expect only the best experience when shopping, and patience dwindles when the checkout process is anything less than instant. Now with Android Pay, mobile shoppers on Weebly sites can seamlessly check out and pay in seconds,” says Dan Veltri, co-founder and CPO of Weebly. “This integration is just another way we are leveling the playing field for our entrepreneurs, empowering their online stores with the latest technology to help them land more happy customers and, of course, more sales.”
“We want to make it easier for businesses like Weebly to offer a simpler, faster in-app payment solution for their customers. With Android Pay, people will be able to speed through checkout with their Android phones in as few as two clicks,” says Pali Bhat, Global Head of Payments Products, Google.
Qualified Weebly merchants and shoppers will begin to experience the Android Pay integration in the next few weeks. To be eligible, merchants need to be connected to Stripe Gateway and customers must have Android Pay set up on their phone.
