Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to Unveil Big Secret on 60 Minutes Sunday

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is about to reveal something that no one has seen before…. Amazon’s M.O. has always been to plug along at what it does best, keeping a low profile. Rarely Bezos will grant an interview, as when he went on Oprah to talk about the Kindle, or make headlines, as occurred this summer after he acquired the Washington Post newspaper publishing business.

But as Amazon carries out its mission to build a worldwide logistics network, the company has come under fire for the way it runs its warehouses, specifically for how it treats its workers. And 60 Minutes came knocking. But based on the preview on its website, it looks like it won’t be a hard-hitting investigative piece.

According to the description, “The world’s largest online retailer lets 60 Minutes cameras into its warehouses to show how this mega business stores and sends products to 225 million customers worldwide. Charlie Rose reports on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET and 7 p.m. PT.”

In the video teaser, Charlie Rose is shown visiting one of the company’s warehouses (300 items a second will be ordered on Amazon on Cyber Monday, he proclaims, obviously impressed), and is shown with Bezos during a recent visit to Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle, where Jeff Bezos presented a “big surprise” “unveiled for the first time.”

“Oh my God,” Rose proclaims upon seeing it, without revealing what it is in the teaser.

Viewers will just have to wait until the program airs on Sunday. See the teaser video on the CBS News website.
