Amazon Adds New Options to Add Climate Friendly Claims

Amazon is adding three new certifications to its Climate Pledge Friendly program that lets shoppers learn more about products’ climate-friendly claims. Amazon displays a badge on eligible products in search results and on product pages.

“We’ve listened to your feedback, and added three new certifications that recognize materials innovation,” it said last week when announcing the following additions to branded sellers who can submit their products to the program:

  • International Sustainability & Carbon Certification Plus (ISCC Plus)
  • Recycled Content Standard for Electrical and Electronic Equipment
  • Plant-Based Fiber Blended

Amazon had surveyed sellers in the spring to get feedback on several sustainability initiatives it was considering, including offering branded and unbranded sustainable packaging for sale and showing customers when sellers’ products were shipped locally.

According to Amazon, the Climate Pledge Friendly program helps customers discover more-sustainable products at scale, and rewards sellers who develop innovative products.
