eBay Tool Pivots to Service Off-eBay Stores

A tool that specializes in helping eBay sellers has found new opportunities thanks to emerging ecommerce platforms. InkFrog has built new apps that lets sellers who have stores on Shopify and Bigcommerce easily list on eBay and keep their inventory and orders synced. And keeping products synced is key when merchants list products across multiple channels – there’s nothing worse than disappointing an eBay customer when they order an item that was sold out on a merchant’s store, or vice versa.

InkFrog founder and CEO Greg Sisung said sellers can now take their Bigcommerce items and push them to eBay in minutes. “Our app will keep everything in sync. We have this same integration on Shopify already and we are now the number-one inventory app on Shopify in only 6 months.”

The capability is due to inkFrog Open, a new platform built from the ground up that launched last year. Not only are existing eBay sellers using the platform to manage their inventory, but, Sisung said, “even more interesting is that we are seeing new sellers signup for eBay because of our tool – and we are becoming their first point of contact to sell on eBay.”

“We bring a brand new channel to their business – we are bridging the gap and making it extremely easy for non-eBay sellers to become eBay sellers and expand their sales channels in the process,” he said. He has seen more new sellers using inkFrog than he’s seen in the last 10 years.

“We are seeing all different types of sellers, from newbies to advanced – some with eBay experience and some without. We are finding that sellers really just want tools to help them move their products across different channels.”

The inkFrog apps, available on Shopify and Bigcommerce, are currently free, although InkFrog plans on charging a small monthly fee in the future.

InkFrog will continue expanding into other store app markets, including Yahoo and Volusion. “Just like a seller would like to get their product in as many channels as possible, we want as many partners as possible,” Sisung said.

And not surprisingly, Sisung also plans to build out support for Amazon. “It’s something our customers ask for.”
