Ecommerce platform BigCommerce is helping to bring commerce to content with yet another WordPress service. In its words, it’s seeking to “empower merchants to take advantage of the trend toward contextual commerce.”
BigCommerce has partnered with Nexcess to bring BigCommerce for WordPress, a full-featured ecommerce plugin that integrates WordPress with BigCommerce’s API-driven ecommerce platform, to WordPress sites hosted on the Nexcess Cloud.
“When combined with the strategic steps BigCommerce has taken over the last several months (launching BigCommerce for WordPress, partnering with Acquia and partnering with WP Engine), a bigger picture emerges,” a spokesperson told us. “Consumers increasingly want the ability to make purchases directly from the sites where they go for information (e.g. the rise of Instagram Shopping), and merchants are working hard to embed shopping experiences in their content.”
BigCommerce Chief Development Officer Russell Klein said, “We’ve witnessed just how quickly merchants can grow from a small business to an international brand, and with this new offering, even enterprise-level retailers can continue to deliver world-class shopping experiences using WordPress’ open source ecosystem rather than relying on a single, closed platform for both content and commerce at scale.”
The BigCommerce spokesperson told EcommerceBytes it’s the latest example of how BigCommerce is helping customers shop where they want and ensure retailers can meet those expectations.
