eBay ‘Calls’ for Consignment Sales

eBay continues to promote its own consignment-selling service, called eBay Valet. In a new marketing pitch, eBay capitalizes on the fact that many people want to trade in their old smartphone for the latest iPhone 7 from Apple.

eBay launched a tool on Monday called Quick Sale – you go to the page, enter information about your current phone (brand, model, carrier, capacity, color, and condition) – and eBay makes an offer for your phone – if you accept, you send it to eBay Valet, and receive payment into your PayPal account if the phone sells.

The tool provides users with two options – one, sell it with Quick Sale (via eBay Valet), or two, “List it yourself.”

If a user accepts the offer, they print a free shipping label and send the phone to eBay Valet for verification. “If your phone is exactly how you described it, valets will send your payment to your PayPal account within 48 hours. If the valets find that the phone is not as described, then you’ll either receive an updated offer or the phone will be sent back to you, free of charge.”

eBay Valet is part of the company’s new focus on consumer selling and, with an injection of funds into their PayPal account, it hopes those users will go shopping on eBay.

You can find more information on the eBay website.
