Etsy surveyed sellers last week about changes to fees, including questions about new monthly subscriptions that could be a way to help larger sellers list more efficiently or cost effectively on its marketplace. We wrote
about the survey in EcommerceBytes Newsflash along with seller reaction and factors that lend credence to fee changes ahead. Below is a closer look at some of the specifics of the changes Etsy may be considering.
Etsy displayed images of various configurations of subscription plans and asked respondents which plans they would choose for their Etsy Shop. The following information comes from images a reader forwarded to EcommerceBytes; note that Etsy may have shown different versions of the survey to different sellers.
One image showed two tiers: one free, one costing $10/month (no listing fees were shown). Among the perks of the $10 plan: 15 free listings; a $5 monthly credit for Etsy Ads or Offsite Ads; discounts for purchasing supplies on Etsy; and advanced shop customization.
A similar image showed two tiers: one for $5, one costing $20 (no listing fees were shown). The benefits offered in the $20 plan not offered in the $5 plan included: multi credential access; sales forecasting tools; a $5 monthly credit for Etsy Ads or Offsite Ads; and discounts for purchasing supplies on Etsy.
Another image showed three tiers and offered different commission fees: a free tier would charge the regular 6.5% transaction fee; a $5 tier would charge a 2.5% transaction fee; and a $20/month tier would charge zero commissions (which seems hard to believe).
Another image showed four tiers: free, $5, $15, and $25. It showed the first two tiers as charging 40-cent listing fees (double the current listing fee), while the two more expensive tiers charged the current 20-cent listing fee. In addition, under these tiers, sellers would be limited in how many listings they could run: 5 for Tier 1; 25 for Tier 2; 100 for Tier 3; and unlimited listings for Tier 4.
And another image showed four tiers: free, $5, $25, and $50, with the same listing fee and listing limits as described in the previous paragraph but with different perks for each tier.
As we pointed out in Newsflash, Etsy launched a subscription plan in 2018 - anyone with experience subscribing to Etsy Plus is invited to share their experiences in the comments.
