Etsy sellers may want to add listings to their shops and get ready to promote their items – Etsy is running a massive sale this weekend, and the savings to buyers will come out of Etsy’s pocket, not sellers’.
“Etsy is funding $5 off orders of $25 or more for buyers in the US, UK, and Canada with code GET5,” the marketplace told sellers on Thursday. “You’ll keep your full earnings whenever you make a sale during this promotion.”
Etsy also messaged the sale to shoppers on the company blog:
“This weekend, for the first time ever, Etsy is having a promotion that will give buyers $5 off eligible orders over $25 using the code GET5 at checkout. The promotion starts Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday and there’s no limit to the number of times a buyer can use the promo during this period.”
Etsy played up the savings while also telling shoppers their purchases would help support small businesses.
“Investing in the growth of our sellers is our top priority, and testing new marketing promotions and initiatives is a key part of these efforts,” it told shoppers. “Etsy will fully fund this offer on behalf of our millions of active sellers to help give them an extra boost in sales this weekend. And by encouraging more shoppers to experience the joy of Etsy now, we hope to stay top of mind as we head into the holiday season.”
Etsy told sellers they did not have to take action but did suggest they take advantage of the promotion by turning on its new Share & Save feature and sharing their listings on social networking sites.
By joining the Share & Save program at no cost, “If you make a sale during the promotion through your trackable link, you’ll keep your full earnings while we cover the cost of the promotion AND we’ll take 4% off of the order total before the $5 off—it’s a win-win!”
0 increase in traffic. 0 sales. Yes, I promoted it.
