Etsy Funds $5 Off Promotion to Entice Shoppers

Etsy is funding a $5-off promotion to entice shoppers to make a minimum purchase of $50. The promotion kicked off on SuperBowl Sunday and runs through Wednesday, Valentine’s Day. Shoppers in the US, Canada, and UK can save on orders of $50 or more in their local currency – but must use the coupon code (GIFTMODE) when checking out. (Sellers in other countries can take advantage of the promotion if they ship to the US, Canada, or UK and use Etsy Payments.)

Etsy is tying the promotion to its TV commercial that advertises its new Gift Mode feature, which it calls “an interactive hub for gifting that combines AI and human curation to help shoppers find the perfect present.” Etsy is running one commercial during the NFL “big game” today (February 11).

In addition to running TV commercials to advertise Gift Mode, Etsy is using out-of-home activations and podcast integrations and is using a custom TikTok filter, YouTube homepage takeover, Hulu Binge Ads, and more, it announced on February 1st.

Etsy is encouraging sellers to advertise this week’s sale by promoting their listings on social media. If they a trackable link using the Share & Save program, sellers will pay no transaction fees on orders received through 8 am on February 15th. Be sure to read the details on the Etsy Announcement board post.

Given that Etsy is funding the $5 off promotion, how popular is it among sellers? Let us know on the AuctionBytes Blog where we provide a recap of the 4 Etsy-funded promotions that have run since September.

Etsy published the following video describing its Gift Mode feature on YouTube on January 22nd:
