Some sellers began seeing fluctuations in the shipping rates being offered through eBay’s shipping label program. One seller reported on January 5th that they saw the cost of postage for a USPS padded flat rate envelope go from $8.30 to $8.54. The seller asked in their thread on the eBay discussion boards devoted to shipping if there had been an announcement about higher USPS costs.
Other sellers initially said they saw no change, but as days went by, other sellers said they saw unaccountable fluctuating postal rates through eBay.
In another thread started on January 7, an eBay seller said they noticed that certain USPS Ground Advantage rates had decreased. And there were additional threads where sellers reported changing postage rates.
An eBay moderator posted an acknowledgement of the issue on January 10, writing that the Shipping team reached out and wished to share the following:
“The Shipping team is aware of the USPS rate fluctuations. A resolution is in place and rest assured, sellers who were negatively impacted will be credited.”
The thread where eBay posts glitches on the Technical Issues board did not include any recent reports about shipping label issues.
Note that the USPS is implementing rate changes on January 21, 2024, see the USPS website for details.
