eBay CEO Jamie Iannone announced that Marie Huber will be leaving the company to pursue a new chapter in her career and personal interests. He did not disclose her exit package in today’s letter to employees, which acted as the company’s press release.
The 62-year-old joined eBay at the time of its split with PayPal in 2015 with a starting annual salary of $610,000 (not including other compensation). Prior to joining eBay, Huber spent 15 years at Agilent Technologies, a technology and life sciences company, as its Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary.
Huber has headed eBay’s legal team during major challenges including a criminal deferred prosecution agreement and civil lawsuit related to the company’s 2019 cyberstalking (see disclosure); a $59 million settlement with the government over the Controlled Substance Act; and a lawsuit against the company by the government over the Clean Air Act and other EPA laws, which eBay vowed to vigorously fight.
In 2022, Huber conducted an interview with NAPABA in collaboration with Harvard Law School that was published on YouTube:
eBay’s press release follows:
Thank you to Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel & Secretary Marie Oh Huber
by Jamie Iannone, President and CEO
A note from eBay’s CEO
Editor’s note: This note was sent to our internal workforce on Thursday, March 7
Hi team,
I wanted to share the news that Marie Oh Huber has decided to leave eBay and pursue a new chapter in her career, while exploring personal interests and passions.
As eBay begins to conduct a search for her successor, Marie will be involved in the upcoming transition, working closely with the leadership team.
Personally, I have appreciated Marie’s close partnership, and deep commitment to our sellers, buyers, and employees. She’s been an integral member of my leadership team since the beginning, and her thoughtfulness and optimism will be missed.
In her nine years as General Counsel, Marie helped to guide the company through numerous changes, including shifts in leadership and pivotal transactions that allowed us to refocus on our core marketplace. Marie has developed a best-in-class, global Legal & Government Relations team that navigates a complex market and manages increased competition, geopolitical challenges, and the ever-evolving regulatory landscape. We are grateful for Marie’s many accomplishments over the years.
A passionate advocate for DE&I, Marie established the eBay legal team as a model for others by collaborating with law firms to offer internships and encouraging change at partner firms. She also served as co-sponsor of the Accessibility COI (ACCESS), Black Employees at eBay (BEE) COI and Asian Employees at eBay (AE2) COI, furthering our efforts to foster a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
Please join me in wishing Marie the best in this next chapter.
Thanks,
Jamie

its too late for her…she will not be able to get the cesspool stench off
House cleaning. I suspect more lawsuits on the way re counterfeit goods and other items. Maybe they want someone more aggressive to make the “we are just the platform, can’t be responsible for what our sellers do” case,
So what happens to those stakes employees get after they are let go? They still own stocks in the company and have a lot of influence on company decisions?
