eBay announced changes to Item Specifics on Thursday. The news was related to the Early Seller Update changes announced in February when eBay said sellers could optimize their listings for product-based shopping by providing complete and accurate item specifics to their listings.
Previously eBay had required that sellers associate their listings with products in the eBay catalog when they listed.
eBay wrote, “We are updating key item specifics in certain categories that are important to sellers when they search for items on eBay. Item specifics include the brand and physical details about the item you are selling, such as make, model, size type, size, color, and style.
“To help you get started, when you list in the below categories, you will receive My eBay and Seller Hub notifications to add item specifics that help buyers find items they’re looking for. We recommend that you review the notifications and update your listings when these details are available.”
eBay provided a table with the following categories and their required Item Specifics:
- PC Laptops & Netbooks: RAM Size, Processor, Screen Size, Graphics Processing Type, Type
- Tablets & eBook Readers: Storage Capacity, Model, Screen Size
- Graphics/Video Cards: Memory Size, Chipset/GPU Model
- Dishwashers: Type, Width, Installation
- String Lights, Fairy Lights: Color, LED String/Strip Type, Type
- Video Games: Game Name, Platform
eBay explained, “We’re monitoring item specifics that buyers use to find items like yours and providing guidance to help buyers find your items and help you optimize the visibility of your listings.
“As part of this process, we will continue to share information about key item specifics in additional categories over the course of the year. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit My eBay (and Seller Hub) for guidance on how to optimize your listings with complete and accurate Item specifics.”

What do you need to do?
We’ve identified the listings that need to be changed to meet our updated standards. ********( Meanwhile the ads were given no visibility by eBay , due to content no longer meeting approval) **********
59 of your listings contain(s) active content such as JavaScript, form actions, etc. Going forward, in order to improve buyer experience, active content will not be rendered. As a result, listings with active content might not display correctly to buyers. ********( Photos I used in 262 ads from the internet)********
152 of your listings contain(s) non-secure HTTP content. Remove any non-secure content to ensure buyers enjoy the best buying experience when browsing your listings. Learn more about browser security warnings. **********( Eseals; from Square Trade.com a endorsed service company of eBay 10 years ago! )********* why didn’t eBay remove the Square trade Eseals itself? All this was to help cell phones load the ads faster. eBay did say two years ago content would be a problem , but they NEVER informed store holders with 285 items they would totally downgrade the visibility, if that content wasn’t taken out!
3 of your listings have an unsupported return policy. Listings with unsupported return policy will not be automatically re-listed. Learn more about our new return policy guidance. ******( couldn’t find anything, wrong) ? ) **********
Morons are running eBay these days in their early twenties! They have NO real business skills. Just programming skills. They screw up the website every day and NOTHING is ever done to correct the glitches at eBay. There is No way to talk to eBay managers or Board member’s to help eBay solve problems?
