A 24-year veteran of Bain & Company has joined eBay as its Global Head of Strategy, helping to boost its gender diversity numbers. Kris Miller, who was a partner and also served on the board of directors at Bain, joined the eBay Marketplaces executive team, succeeding Paul Todd, who was recently named senior vice president of eBay Marketplaces Europe. eBay’s current CEO, John Donahoe, spent 23 years at Bain before joining eBay in 2005.
Miller has worked extensively with retailers while at Bain to create winning digital and omnichannel strategies, according to her bio. Her channel experience includes department stores, specialty retailers, mass merchants, catalog, online and omnichannel retailers.
Interestingly Miller co-wrote a research brief in November that touches on eBay’s Retail Associate Platform app designed for brick-and-mortar stores whose associates use mobile tablets to assist customers. “Store associates will be notified of all in-store customers who have checked in using their PayPal account, and will see a profile of information about each consumer, including past purchases, abandoned shopping carts and store associate notes. The app hasn’t reached stores yet, but eBay is in talks with Macy’s, Aeropostale, Urban Outfitters and Toys “R” Us, among others.”
Another research brief from January, titled “Omnichannel resolutions for 2014,” references eBay’s same day delivery service, called eBay Now.
eBay said Miller will oversee Marketplaces’ planning and execution processes “to continue eBay’s leadership of the commerce revolution.”
