Amazon Offers Perks to Get New Products onto Its Marketplace

Amazon learned long ago that welcoming brands and third-party sellers to its marketplace improved selection for shoppers, and it found ways to entice third-parties to make new products available to Prime members through its FBA fulfillment program.

On March 1, 2024, Amazon expanded the perks of its “FBA New Selection” program that it launched in 2019 to motivate sellers to list products new to the FBA fulfillment program.

One significant change: “We reduced the Inventory Performance Index (IPI) score needed for program eligibility to 300 or higher,” Amazon stated. “Previously, you needed a score of 400 or higher to qualify for the program.”

Amazon said it would announce additional program updates – including a discount on Vine enrollment fees – later in the year.

By January 2021, Amazon had 60,000 sellers enrolled in the FBA New Selection program and said it had sent 680,000 new-to-FBA ASINs to its fulfillment centers. In April 2022, Amazon published the following video on YouTube about the FBA New Selection program.
