eBay Makes It Easier for Sellers to Lower Their Prices

eBay is making it easier for sellers to run Markdown Sales and will offer “Sell it faster” recommendations. Store owners will now be able to seamlessly create markdown sale events directly from the Active Listings tab. Previously sellers could only create sale events from the Seller Hub Marketing tab. The changes were announced as part of the 2024 Winter Seller Update on February 21, 2024.

“We’re committed to simplifying how you sell. That’s why we’re bringing more selling tools and tips right to where you spend your time – your Seller Hub Active Listings tab and the eBay app,” eBay said.

Note that sellers will only be able to create Markdown Sales or add listings to an existing sale when accessing them through the Active Listings tab. “In order to access advanced features like rule-based sales events, or to manage, end, or delete your sale events, you’ll need to use the sale events tool in the Marketing tab,” eBay explained.

For those who find the recommendations annoying (eBay worded it more diplomatically), you can “snooze” them for a few days by selecting the “Remind me later” button. However, there’s no way to permanently turn them off (“We believe these recommendations offer important insights to help your listings sell faster,” eBay said).

The new functionality is available on desktop now. It will initially be available on the iOS app, and will expand to the Android app in the coming months. Leave a comment about the eBay Seller Update on the EcommerceBytes Blog.

  1. After raising the fee, I would expect they would come up with another tool to quickly increase the price, e.g. a mark-up manager
