PayPal’s Braintree unit is launching a new instant sign-up flow for online merchants based in Europe. Braintree is targeted at developers, enabling web and mobile payments. It also offers a mobile application called Venmo that gives people an easy way to pay each other using their mobile devices and leveraging social networks.
Merchants who are new to Braintree will receive their first $50,000 USD-equivalent in their local currency, free of fees, the company announced.
Soon, European merchants that integrate with Braintree’s v.zero SDK can start accepting payments immediately with just an email address, company URL and short business description – that’s it! Once integrated with the v.zero SDK – which takes less than 10 minutes to integrate – merchants will get instant access to accept credit, debit and PayPal (now localized for more than 40 Braintree markets).
A spokesperson told EcommerceBytes, “If you put this together with the quickness of Braintree’s v.zero integration, it’s possible for businesses to be totally up and running with payments in 15 – 20 minutes – quite a change from how merchants have traditionally set up payments systems.”
