A series of announcements by online payment providers show the opportunity smaller merchants represent. Amazon, Apple, and PayPal all announced integrations with ecommerce platforms that provide store-hosting solutions for small and medium sized businesses.
Ecommerce platforms and shopping carts are happy to be able to offer merchants more choice when it comes to payment processing, and sellers are happy to give shoppers choice in the hopes of boosting conversion. And in the case of Amazon, it will gain even greater insight into shopping behavior. It will be interesting to see which payment provider becomes the favorite among online and mobile shoppers.
