Sellers are reporting they are unable to list valuable coins for sale on eBay. A reader alerted EcommerceBytes to the problem, writing that as of May 15th, listings over $2500 will not list for sellers despite meeting criteria. “eBay has been aware of this since at least Friday and has done nothing.”
The seller pointed to a thread on the eBay discussion boards published on May 16th by a seller who wrote:
“Anybody else getting an error message when trying to list or relist a graded coin over $2500? It started last night when relisting 2 PCGS graded coins that did not sell. They both failed with the error message that my coins must be graded by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, or ICG if the price is over $2500. Both are PCGS graded and say so in the title, and item specifics.”
The seller continued, “I had no problem listing these the first time, or relisting since, until now. I also created a new listing today for an NGC graded coin at $2800, and got the same error. I called eBay. Talked to 5 different people, all of whom could find nothing wrong with the listing. Each passed me up the chain of command. The last customer service person was supposed to be a listing expert. I had already spent an hour and a half total on the phone. When she asked to put me on hold for the second time, I asked if she could just call me back when she figured it out. Five hours later, I’m still waiting on that call.”
Additional sellers chimed in reporting the same problem. EcommerceBytes has sent an inquiry to eBay to see if it is aware of the problem and an ETA on a fix.
