eBay Announces July 15 Crash Sale

eBay is among the ecommerce sites countering Amazon’s Prime Day shopping event, announcing a sale on July 15th. But eBay gave the sale an unusual name – Crash Sale – which it said was a reference to Amazon’s technical issues that resulted from shoppers flooding the marketplace during last year’s Prime Day event.

eBay Vice President and COO Jay Hanson said, “eBay is primed to deliver exactly what shoppers want during this year’s crash (sale). July has become a massive shopping season, and our summer sales include blockbuster deals that will not disappoint.”

eBay announcement follows:

eBay’s hottest deals offered during prime summer shopping season – with even better deals if Amazon crashes again.

eBay, one of the world’s largest and most vibrant marketplaces, announces today that it will host a Crash Sale on July 15. If history repeats itself and Amazon crashes that day, eBay’s wave of can’t-miss deals on some of the season’s top items will excite customers around the world. Rather than limiting the fun to just two days, eBay’s Crash Sale is part of a series of events kicking off on July 1. For three full weeks, shoppers will find great deals on the things they actually want — from top electronics and home items, to the latest fashion, sporting goods, and more.

“eBay is primed to deliver exactly what shoppers want during this year’s crash (sale),” said Jay Hanson, VP and COO, Americas. “July has become a massive shopping season, and our summer sales include blockbuster deals that will not disappoint.”

eBay’s July events give shoppers the opportunity to save all month long — not just a designated day — and offer summer discounts of up to 80 percent off from top brands like adidas, Apple, Dyson, Garmin, and Samsung at eBay.com/deals. Shoppers always get free shipping on eBay deals with no membership fee required, ever.

Here are some of the featured events during July on eBay.com:

The Crash Sale [July 15]: Crash the party with doorbuster savings on top brands, including LG, Apple, Samsung, KitchenAid, Garmin, and more over 50% off — with a fresh batch of too-good-to-be-true deals that will drop if Amazon crashes.

July 4th Savings [July 1-7]: Seven days of savings on summer essentials, appliances, and more, including stand mixers, cookware, robotic vacuums, camping gear, outdoor toys, and more up to 85% off.

Hot Deals for Hot Days [July 8-22]: Two weeks of new deals launching every day, offering a chance to save big on the hottest tech, smart home devices, home appliances, and more up to 80% off.

Stay tuned for additional details about the Crash Sale and even more chances to save throughout the month of July. And, for those who can’t wait to shop, visit eBay.com/deals today for a wide selection of deals and discounts every day — all with free shipping and no membership required.

  1. Ebay crash sale. HA HA HA If more than 10 people try using the site it will crash. Ebay has become an embarassment to everyone.

  2. eBay calling their event a Crash Sale is just pure gold. This is like a car dealership having a Crash Sale. Doesn’t make much sense does it? eBay continues to prove they have no idea what they’re doing and don’t know how to present themselves. Taking jabs at Amazon is laughable considering the condition that eBay is in. Speaking of presenting itself, if anyone’s ever seen or heard any eBay advertising on radio or tv, which is scarce by the way, you know what a trainwreck those ads are. Stupid, out of touch, and leaves the customer asking “what’s that supposed to mean?”

    “Fill your cart with color”
    “Looking real gucci”
    “Have you checked eBay?”

    Indeed.

    1. Speaking of car dealerships, we have one in Los Angeles that caters to people with bad or no credit called Repossess Auto Sales. Every time I see one of their ads on TV I wonder how many buyers do get their cars repossessed as I’m sure their interest rates are just a fraction below the amount that would make it usurious.

  3. if fleece bay somehow gets a increase in traffic, buyers will not be able to find what they want.
