After a major snafu with its coupon marketing campaign, eBay has apologized and reissued coupons to users who had trouble redeeming them. eBay spokesperson Ryan Moore told EcommerceBytes on Wednesday, “Some customers may have experienced difficulty redeeming an eBay Coupon that was issued to them in past few days. We have sent an email to these customers to offer them a replacement coupon to be applied toward their next purchase.”
eBay had sent $10 coupons good for purchases on eBay in late March, but users began reporting they were unable to redeem them. A couple of people said eBay customer service reps had told them the company had run out of money in its budget for the promotion.
On Wednesday, eBay sent the following letter to those affected along with $10 coupon good through April 10 (the first coupon was good through April 6):
Dear (name),
It’s come to our attention that you may have experienced difficulty redeeming an eBay Coupon in past few days. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused you.
With our apologies, we’d like to offer you a replacement coupon to be applied toward your next purchase. Please see below for details including the value, redemption code, and expiration date.
As always, your satisfaction is important to us. We value your membership in the eBay Community—and we thank you for shopping eBay.
Sincerely,
The eBay Team
