eBay Lifts Markdown Manager Restriction for the Holidays

eBay

eBay logoeBay rolled back a new policy that had restricted sellers from running markdown sales in certain circumstances. eBay had imposed the restriction in June, though it exempted some sellers from having to comply.

On Tuesday afternoon, eBay officially announced it was reversing course during the holiday shopping season, stating it could impose the restriction again next year.

Announcement follows:

As announced in the Summer Seller update, we recently made a change that required sellers to list their items for 14 days at the same price before creating a markdown sale event. This policy was enacted to reduce the negative experiences customers were experiencing from some sellers abusing the markdown feature. We know this is not representative of our seller community as a whole. We heard your feedback and we understand the enforcement was a challenge for sellers providing value to our customers.

Starting immediately, you will be able to create markdown events again immediately after listing.

As we move into the holidays, our biggest priority is ensuring you have an easy and successful selling season. We will continue to evaluate whether changes to this feature need to be made in 2019.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.
