eBay is raising its commission fees significantly in the jewelry category in the UK. The current final value fee is 12.9% for items up to £450 in the “Jewellery” category, plus 30p per order. Effective March 7, 2024, the final value fee will be 14.9% for items up to £1,000, with the same 30p per order fee.
eBay has a tranche fee structure; it currently charges an additional 2% of the total amount of sales above £450 in the jewelry category; on March 7th, that will change to an additional 4% of the total amount of the sale above £1,000.
The fee hike applies to Jewellery only, and eBay said there’s no increase to the final value fees for the Watches, Parts & Accessories subcategory. In its announcement, eBay UK referred to its help page for more information about fees for Business sellers.
The announcement gives sellers only a month to devise a strategy to counter the higher fees and determine whether to raise prices or take other actions to account for lower margins.
Sellers are discussing the significant increase in this thread on the eBay UK forums.
