eBay didn’t show up for its regularly scheduled monthly chat session on Wednesday, February 14th, leaving sellers wondering what was going on. On Friday, it announced it will no longer host the monthly sessions.
The chats were a throwback to when eBay held weekly chats, giving sellers an opportunity to ask questions about new features or problems they were having. In 2022, eBay transitioned from weekly chats open to any and all questions to monthly chats devoted to a single topic of eBay’s choosing.
In Friday’s announcement on the Selling board (it chose not to post the news on the Seller Announcement Board), eBay advised sellers to attend quarterly events known as Seller Check-Ins – “This way, you’ll be able to hear from eBay executives and staff and ask any questions you may have in real time.”
eBay will host the next seller check-in on March 7 from 2 – 4 pm.
eBay also said that instead of monthly chats, it would schedule chats with eBay staff around timely updates and recent changes – but it would solicit questions ahead of the sessions: “Moving forward, we will host the chats in the Buying & Selling boards depending on the appropriate topic, and you will have a week to submit your questions. As always, our Community team will be focusing on keeping you updated and addressing any questions or concerns you may have in the meantime.”
It was Valentine’s Day so it’s an official day-off holiday at eBay HQ where love flows just like the beer tap at Walker’s West. Except towards eBay’s sellers, of course. You are just irritating “noise” to eBay. eBay hates you!
