Is eBay Technical Issue Depressing Auction Prices?

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
I sell at auction on eBay. My auctions are very popular which results in many last second bids.

For the past month or so I have received reports of buyers trying to bid and either their bid was ignored or somehow the countdown clock reset to allow another bidder to win. I have never received so many complaints like this before and wonder if it is a technical issue with a certain browser or something on eBay's part.

Anyway, it is very frustrating for me as I am powerless to do anything. Has anybody reported a similar issue?

Why Temu May Not Be a Competitive Threat to Online Sellers

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
I'm writing regarding TEMU mentioned in the April 22, 2024 issue.

I shouldn't think Temu would/could become a threat to eBay or any other online merchant. The truth of the matter is that ALL ITEMS THEY SELL ARE OF VERY POOR QUALITY, which is why they're able to offer very low prices, because that's all it's worth.

I have purchased items from them which every single product was very poor  quality. And customer support doesn’t seem to exist.

I hope you find this helpful, and suggest sellers who are interested in purchasing from them, get a very small order first.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
Pamela

Seller Believes Amazon Wants to Keep Control of Customer Data

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

We've been generally happy with the service and shipping discounts that have come with it. I honestly believe that this was developed in order for Amazon to control customer data plain and simple.

We previously used ShipWorks, and it maintained a database of all customer data emails, telephone number, addresses, etc. Using data like this only helps us drive customers back Direct and something Amazon definitely doesn't want.

Amazon Multi Platform Shipping Service Comes with a Cost?

By: Reader

Dear Ina,

In a world of free services, we need to realize that nothing is free.

Amazon offered a free shipping platform Veeqo but think about it. What a great way to find what you are selling on other platforms.

eBay Buyer Unable to View Details of Purchased Item

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
I just discovered a change in my eBay purchase listings and am furious about it.

I was searching an item I have already bought a few of, that haven't arrived yet, so I went to my purchased items and clicked on the item I bought to view the descriptions and see if I had not maybe already bought some.

To my horror I get a pop-up from eBay saying basically, sorry, but the item has already been sold. What??? I KNOW it's been sold. I bought it!!! Idiots!!!

What I wanted was to check the listing again and now aside from some basic useless details to me, ... Read More
