Seller Feels Jilted by Ruby Lane over Pending Fee Hike

Dear Ina, You published an article on May 4 about Ruby Lane's sudden increase in Seller fees. I can't believe Sellers aren't raising the roof about this. It is a very unfair thing they are doing. Going essentially from $0 per month to $45 per month. Small sellers such as myself will likely not be able to absorb this fee as I do not consistently sell that much there. I've had a few good months but not consistently. Unlike other Sellers, my items are not $1000 items, rather very affordable vintage and antique items.
This is very unfair as they definitely favor their "Legacy" sellers who were there prior to August 2021 making it abundantly clear, "rest assured, there will be no alterations to YOUR existing plan". I'd like for someone to tell me what's so special about the Sellers who were there prior to August 2021 and went with this other fee structure. I can find no information regarding what it is that they are paying that they can "rest assured" won't be changing. This sounds like pure discrimination since this price hike only affects those who joined after August 2021.
I sold on Ruby Lane several years ago but eventually had to close my Shop due to their high monthly fee and other issues plus the fact no one even knew about Ruby Lane. Fast forward to several years later in 2021, they sent me an email practically begging me to come back as they had this wonderful new plan of only $25 per month and this would be waived if I simply listed a minimum of 15 items. So they sucked me back in only to pull this stunt less than 3 years later.
In my opinion, this is a rotten thing to do. And extremely discriminatory to the more recent shops. Over the last 3 years, I have put so much work into building up my Ruby Lane Shop and doing free advertising for them. This is the thanks I get. I think this is a disgraceful money grab reeking of discrimination and I hope more Sellers rise up and let them know.
Most likely I will be forced to move my items one by one to another venue as I am not a big power seller there. Very sad that these huge corporations can do this to the people who hand them money. Best regards, (Requested anonymity) |
