Online prices in September 2023 fell 4.6% year-over-year, a 41-month low, according to Adobe, which tracks data through its the Adobe Digital Price Index (DPI). It said the decline marked the 13th consecutive month of year-over-year price decreases.
The Adobe DPI index analyzes one trillion visits to retail sites and over 100 million SKUs across 18 product categories.
Adobe found that online prices fell for the majority of Adobe’s tracked categories (12 of 18) on an annual basis in September. On a month-over-month (MoM) basis, online prices were down 0.6%.
September’s year-over-year decline was driven by major discretionary categories including appliances (down 7.6% YoY, down 1.7% MoM), electronics (down 11.9% YoY, down 1.5% MoM), and computers (down 12.2% YoY, up 0.4% MoM).

The Federal Reserve has been raising interest rates to curb spending, and therefore, to curb inflation. I’ve noticed this in my local grocery store. Price points in grocery items have most definitely come down to better levels.
As a Seller on Etsy, I noticed that many shops had out-priced their products to grab all of that consumer spending. Many shop owners got greedy and it bit them in the butt as their sales crashed.
