eBay launched “Guaranteed Fit” for shoppers of car parts in February, and on September 25, 2023, eBay launched “Assured Fit” in the UK, guaranteeing that eligible parts will fit.
The “Assured Fit” program helps UK shoppers find the right part for their car with a money back promise – and a simple free returns process if a part doesn’t fit as expected.
“Motorists can enter their vehicle information using eBay’s newly enhanced MyGarage function, which allows customers to find the right vehicle parts with confidence and ease,” according to the announcement. “When shoppers purchase an eligible part or accessory, they can be sure it will fit their vehicle. If, for any reason, it isn’t the right part upon arrival, they can return it for free within 30 days for a full refund.”
The head of eBay UK’s parts and accessories category Laura Richards was quoted: “We understand the frustration and uncertainty that can come with purchasing vehicle parts online, and we’re committed to making it as painless as possible for our customers. With the eBay Assured Fit initiative, we’re promising elevated assurance for buyers that parts are the right fit for them. We’re also providing peace of mind, so customers can shop confidently knowing there is a simple and free returns process in place if the part they buy isn’t quite right.”
eBay UK said the new program supports its “Built Different” campaign, which calls for vehicle owners to repair, rather than replace.
eBay UK linked to a landing page on eBay.com describing the eBay Guaranteed Fit program, where it explained how the program works:
1) Search by vehicle
Use the Find Parts & Accessories tool on the eBay Motors homepage or select your saved vehicle in My Garage to search for parts that fit.
2) We’ll show you parts that fit White checkmark within a green circle
We will verify the provided vehicle details match the item compatibility information provided by our seller. When there is a match, fit is confirmed for that specific item and is indicated by a checkmark White checkmark within a green circle on the listing.
3) Purchase an eligible part or accessory
When you make a purchase of an eligible part or accessory with the checkmark, fit is guaranteed. Exclusions may apply.
4) We’ll protect you
If the part or accessory you purchased does not fit your vehicle, you can return it for free within 30 days of receiving it for a full refund.
