Merchants Can Tell Walmart to Just Keep Their Returns

Walmart Marketplace added new functionality so online merchants can choose to have the retailer simply keep their returns rather than ship them back.

The “Keep It” rule means that when customers initiate returns – including in Walmart Stores – the items aren’t necessarily automatically returned to merchants. Some sellers find that the cost of return shipping isn’t worth it for certain items.

The Keep It rule applies to seller-fulfilled items and those ordered through the Walmart fulfillment service.

Walmart will also begin notifying sellers when a return is initiated or delivered – and when a refund for a return is initiated. Sellers can set the frequency of the notifications in Walmart Seller Center.

Walmart Fulfillment Services also recently reduced the Additional Fulfillment fee for oversize items that measure 96–108 inches on the longest side or 130–165 inches in combined length and girth. It dropped the fee from $28 to $20 on January 25th.

Sellers should also take note that Walmart will hold its Baby Days savings event beginning February 15. The retailer is encouraging merchants to set up promotional pricing with a minimum 15% discount to maximize their exposure and help improve their chances of being featured.
