eBay held its monthly chat session on Wednesday, which was devoted to the theme, “Starting 2024 off right and setting your business up for success in the new year.” It kicked off with a hello from the eBay Growth Advisors team, which said they help sellers to “focus on not only the health of their accounts, but also ways to grow them.”
One seller asked for advice about expanding their offerings. “I have a more than 4K mostly preowned clothing store, and I am considering to change to New Clothing. Do you thing it will positive impact my store? Would I do it or keep listing preowned?”
Several sellers had questions about shipping. One wanted to know if an item’s tracking showed “moving through network – in transit to next facility,” would eBay protect them from Item not Received claims.
Another said their buyers were unable to combine different items for EIS orders (eBay International Shipping) and said many of their items were no longer able to ship to the UK via EIS.
Another seller pointed to a problem with eBay’s mobile app – they said they had buyers who were unable to purchase multiple items at once but instead had to checkout each time they added an item to their cart when on a mobile device.
Another seller asked about growth tips beyond the usual advice to spend more on Promoted Listing Ads, add more pictures, run sales (“once in a while is fine, but not continuously”), etc.
One seller said they were just perusing the discussion as they had decided to stop selling. “I’ve realized there is far too much risk to me as a seller – not getting a sale is one thing, losing time is another, but losing money due to chargebacks, made up excuses and ebay’s indiscriminate creation of labels and charging me for items sold without return, is too much, ” he explained.
To read what was on sellers’ minds and the responses from eBay, the full question-and-answer session is available on the January 17th eBay discussion board thread.
I read the thread, not many people asking questions, 39 replies and half from advisors, most said “we’ll pass that along to someone”
Why would you ask Ebay how or what you should sell in your store?
