PayPal Raises Fees for Smallest Sellers in Australia

PayPal is raising fees in Australia, it warned sellers through a post on eBay’s announcement board on Tuesday. The standard domestic rate will increase from 2.4% plus 30 cents to 2.6% plus 30 cents. That means its smallest sellers will see an 8% fee hike.

The payments service also announced new pricing, adding a fifth tier: Sellers with a monthly sales volume of between $2,500 and $5,000 will pay 2.2% plus 30 cents for domestic transactions. Sellers can apply for the new rate on the PayPal website.

Additionally, PayPal Australia made changes to its User Agreement, Combined Financial Services Guide and Product Disclosure Statement, and the Privacy Policy, which are spelled out on this page of the PayPal website.

PayPal and its parent eBay are laying off 7% of their staff as they prepare to split following pressure from Carl Icahn.

The new changes and fees take effect on February 12, 2015.
