Help the Postal Inspector Evaluate USPS Ground Advantage

How is the new USPS Ground Advantage service performing? The USPS Inspector General wants to know – and now is the chance for sellers to share their feedback with the agency.

The audit, titled “Effectiveness of Package Shipping Services,” commenced on December 11, and the report will be released in June.

The USPS OIG described it as follows:

“The Postal Service launched a new package shipping service on July 10, 2023, called USPS Ground Advantage. The new service was established after retiring three services (Retail Ground, Parcel Select Ground, and First-Class Package) and creating one offering with expected delivery in 2-5 business days for packages weighing up to 70 pounds. The new shipping service is intended to streamline package shipping options, increase customer satisfaction, and grow revenue. Our objective is to evaluate the service performance and effectiveness of package shipping services.”

Be aware that when you provide information to a government agency, it’s generally not anonymous; the USPS OIG form that requires you to enter your name and email address along with your feedback about USPS Ground Advantage does not say anything about anonymity.

  1. For many years I avoided parcel post for 2 reasons – it took too long for delivery and the labels had no discounted price. But this new Ground Advantage has been great. I have been offering it since it started and the delivery speed seems fine and pricing has shown decent savings over Priority Mail.

  2. I have been really surprised by Ground Advantage. I avoided Parcel Post like the plague because of too much damage to fragile items, but GA has been the exact opposite. And the shipping time is highly improved. It appeals to customers because the prices are lower than Priority Mail. As for First Class, I don’t notice any difference.
